Open MindIt was an important decision so I was deliberate in making my selection. In the end I was disappointed and vowed to never purchase anything ever again from that manufacturer. It was a position I maintained for years and openly shared with friends.  Several years later, I found myself in the same situation, looking to replace my previous purchase.

I logged into my Consumer Reports account. And there it was. The Reversing Factor. The maker of the highest rated product was none other than the manufacturer that I had written off. I was skeptical. But, what did the experts have to say? Consumer Reports is an expert, independent organization whose mission is to provide objective ratings and reviews. John Maxwell with the Ambit Energy LeadersIt was a memorable event. Months earlier, I had joined John’s coaching and mentoring certification program to become a certified John Maxwell coach.  But it was through Ambit Energy that another of my lifelong dreams was achieved.  In mid-December I had the privilege of spending time and getting personal one-on-one coaching from my mentor, Dr. John C. Maxwell.  Better yet, I got to share that extraordinary experience with my fellow Ambit leaders and co-founders, Jere Thompson, Jr. and Chris Chambless.

It was a night of acknowledgement and celebration. John was graciously posing for photos and signing books for everyone. He treated us all to a gourmet dinner. A great thrill and personal source of pride was hearing the world’s most influential expert on leadership express his praise and admiration for our leaders, things such as, “I think Ambit Energy is a lid lifter” and “You are a lid lifter.”  Two of my favorites are when John said, “The DNA of this organization is to add value to people.” The other is when he said to Jere Thompson: “I would join your company in a heartbeat… I’d love to follow you, because you, Jere, are a wonderful leader.”

Not to mention his enthusiasm for the network marketing model. After all, at its core, network marketing is the business of “leaders developing leaders.”

By now you should know that the only way to enroll new consultants and grow your business is by using the 4-Step Proven Ambit System. It begins with the Written List of who you know. Your Facebook friends are a rich source of leads. You connect there with family, friends, church members, high school classmates, and military buddies. There are 800 million people using Facebook – how can you leverage that power to grow your business?

Lori Peterson, says she utilizes Facebook by using her story in subtle ways to see who is curious. “When I first joined Facebook I simply posted my status as: ‘Setting off on a new adventure. Going to be busier than ever.’ A friend contacted me almost immediately to ask what the new adventure was. He became my first customer within 30 minutes of my joining Ambit.”

Tracy Wattleworth O’Halloran said she “posted the Ambit INC 500 article and the revenue of the company, and someone emailed me immediately inquiring about getting in the business.”

What can YOU do to use Facebook with the Ambit System? Here are five key strategies designed to help you grow your business.

1. The Friend List. Building, maintaining and growing a strong written list is a foundational necessity for your business. Review your Facebook friends and add them to your written list. People’s situations change and going back over your friend list might unearth some surprising prospects, whether you spoke last week or years ago. It’s time to rekindle the friendships.

2. The Cyber Favor. When you talk with friends in person or online ask if they would be willing share something on their Facebook page. This is another great way to find new Ambit customers and consultants. You can also share Event invitations – Hundreds of invitations to the Mad Man Marathon were shared, which helped everyone enroll more new consultants.

When contacting friends in private Facebook messages make it personal. Don’t contact 20 people in the same Facebook message and expect to get results. Send personalized notes to contacts who you think could be helpful and willing to share Ambit events and messages with their friends.

3. Groups. In Facebook you have the ability to organize your friends in groups. You can make the group public or private for those you invite. You can setup a group just for Ambit consultants in your downline. This can be a terrific way to get your team together and hold a discussion after a training or call, discuss plans, share resources and generally gather in a private area on Facebook. It can be an ideal platform to share action plans, support your team, and hold each other accountable.

4. Get Support. Upline getting you down? Need a little inspiration after a prospect you were sure would say yes gives you a no? Head to Facebook. The Top Ambit Leader Page is a thriving community with consultants eager to help you with any challenges you may have with your business. I have even seen consultants that have never met in person come together on my Page to act as accountability partners! The page is full of inspiration, information, and terrific people. It’s a great place to ask how do I do this, where can I find information on that, and build support systems.

5. Recognition and Gratitude. Facebook is an excellent forum to publically recognize new consultants, new promotions and the hard work your team is doing. When you help new consultants join the Top Ambit Leader Page, you are plugging them into a system and support structure quickly and easily.

The Top Ambit Leader page encourages participation every day, but we recently added two new weekly features on Facebook.
• Tell Us Tuesdays: Consultants share their success stories each Tuesday from the past week.
• Thank You Wednesdays: Public displays of gratitude every Wednesday on the Top Ambit Leader Wall.

To help with public recognition Facebook has a feature that allows you to “tag” friends by adding the “@” symbol directly preceding the name of a person you mention (no extra spaces!) on a Wall posting. This will automatically put the same message on your friends Wall so they can see what you said about them.

From time to time, we all get too big for our britches. We are moving so fast we forget the fundamentals of our game. Some of my readers might be new to Ambit Energy, and if that’s you, welcome to the ride of your life. These basic truisms are a blueprint for success – I hope that you are able to take them to heart. For the consultants that have been around a little longer, ask yourself if you are still living these basic principles.

1. The key to success in our business is a consistent and persistent effort over time. There are people in Ambit working 80 hours/week every week and seeing incredible results. But not everyone can make that kind of commitment. If all you can do is work your business ten hours a week, then just make sure you always put in those ten hours and let nothing stop you from doing that. If somehow, despite your best effort, something happens to keep you from working those ten hours, make sure you have a plan to double up and make up for it next week. The important thing is consistency.

2. Promote in our marketing plan quickly, and help others promote quickly. You only get one chance to make a first impression and you only get one chance to begin your story with Ambit Energy. Begin as you mean to go on. The faster you promote, the faster your income will rise. When you bring in a new consultant, you need to keep their enthusiasm high. You know what does that? Money. When they get that first check, or now even sooner as they watch their revenue on Power Zone, it increases their belief in the business. The more you do something well, the more you are compelled to do it.

3. Recruiting someone is logical, but enrolling someone is emotional. Find out what someone wants, their WHY, and then show them how Ambit can help get it for them. Remember their reasons for joining, and commit to helping them achieve their dreams. If you bury yourself in the success of others, your own success becomes a byproduct.

4. Follow the system. We are in the business of duplication not innovation. You either work for a system or you have a system that works for you. If you just follow the proven training system, and practice it using your dynamic personality for leverage, you will succeed. You don’t have to re-invent the wheel; the best in the business freely share with you how they did it.

5. Efficiency is key. Spend your precious time with people that deserve your time, not people that need your time. When someone is hemming and hawing, move on! You don’t have time for people who don’t get it, or worse try to bring you down. Are you going to let someone else crush your dreams? YOU need to define and own your dreams; they must be your dreams and yours alone. When you are confident enough in your dream, you will stand firm and not waver in the face of criticism.

A hummingbird has to hit 1,800 flowers in a day to survive. He doesn’t get nectar in all of them, but that’s how many he has to hit to get enough food. You need to become a “Nectar Detector.” You are looking for like-minded, coachable people. There is a direct correlation between wealth and urgency. A prospect with nectar is one that’s willing and able to move NOW. But you will not succeed if you are not opening enough doors; you simply aren’t going to get to enough flowers to survive in this business. You need to learn to say “NEXT!” quickly.

There are two elements critical to your success in Ambit Energy. There’s the mechanics of the business – mastering identification, invitation, presentation and validation are essential to your success. But if your mind game, your beliefs about the business and yourself, your character and values, are off track, people will know. They will know, you will know, and you will fall short of your goals. A big part of working Ambit is working on you.

There’s a very old joke that a tourist in New York City stops to ask a local businessman “How do I get to Carnegie Hall?” The local responds, “Practice, practice, practice.”

When you learned to ride a bike as a child you probably started by falling off and skinning your knee. You got back up and fell off again and skinned your elbow. But you kept getting back up until you made it from point A to point B and didn’t fall off the bike. Why did you endure that pain while you were in the awkward stage of learning to ride a bike? You wanted to move into the mechanical stage where you would go from point A to point B without falling. In the mechanical stage, as long as you are paying careful attention to what you are doing, you can ride around the block and not fall off – it became fun and exciting! Eventually you moved into the natural phase, the wind blew through your hair and you coasted downhill. It felt so good, almost like you were flying. You jumped curbs, rode with no hands on the handlebars and weaved in and out of traffic with ease.

A few people will pay the price to get so natural in riding the bike that they qualify to go on to the X Games. Well I was already X Games qualified when I joined Ambit Energy. I had scraped my knees in other businesses but never gave up on my dreams. I spent three decades learning how to mechanically build a sales and marketing organization. I was earning while I was learning and the journey was incredible but I didn’t show up day one making a ton of money. So if you are still in the awkward or mechanical phase don’t be discouraged. The important thing is that you keep getting up and trying again and again and again just like I had done for years prior to joining Ambit Energy.

Allow me ask you a question. What do you do for a living, besides or before Ambit Energy? Whatever you are doing, it took years to learn your profession through education, training, time and experience. Let’s say you are a teacher and I decided I wanted to become a teacher. If I paid a one-time fee of $429.00, received a kit on what to do to get started as a teacher, and watched a few videos online, do you think I could show up on the first day of school and be a very good teacher? Of course not! How unrealistic would it be to think you could? It’s pretty ridiculous if you think about it, right?

Ambit is no different. Ambit is not some get rich quick scheme – it requires real work to be successful. But if you put in the work, it is a vehicle of positive change in your life and can produce financial freedom for you and your family. Like any other business it takes time, training, experience and a burning desire to be successful. If you commit to doing the work, Ambit will work for you. Remember your Ambit Energy business will pose a series of small inconsequential choices and any one of those small choices by itself has little or no effect on your success with Ambit Energy. However, if you continue to make one poor choice after another the collective whole of those poor small choices can lead to the failure of your business. Choose to tie into our proven training system, go to local business presentations and trainings and most importantly continue to position yourself for success by making the choices that keep you charging hard towards your dream destination for your family’s future. Choose wisely – it is your life!
